Chapstick Lip Moisturizer SPF 15 Review

So while at the grocery store this week I decided to try a lip balm and see how it compared to Jack black intense therapy lip balm and Anthony logistics lip balm. The lip balm that I ended up purchasing was a name that is very familiar to anyone that has purchased lip balm in the past 40 years. I bought a Chapstick brand lip balm with SPF in it to protect your lips from sun damage.
The Chapstick that I purchased is a new offering from his brand that I have not seen before. It is called Chapstick SPF 15 moisturizer. It claims that it softens and protects lips every day with an ultra-hydrating formula. So I thought I'd give it a try and see if it lives up to its claims.
After checking out from the grocery store I opened up the package and took out the lip balm. I opened it up and gave it a quick smell to see if I liked its scent. It smelled to me like coconut mixed with sunscreen. I do like the scent of coconut normally but not when mixed with sunscreen. So at this point I wasn't feeling very good about how this product would turn out. But in the name of men's skin care I persevered and applied it to my lips.
While applying to my lips I noticed that it was a little thicker than I'm used to from a lip balm. Even Blistex is not as thick as Chapstick moisturizer with SPF 15. It still applied evenly but was just a little thicker than I am used to.
After applying it I pressed my lips together and spread it around evenly. I noticed that due to its thick texture it kind of made my lips stick together a little bit. It wasn't sticky but it was definitely noticeable. Not a deal breaker but coupled with the scent was not looking good for the Chap stick.
The next test that I give all the lip balms that I try is to see what it tastes like on your lips and if it has any taste at all. Right away I tasted coconut mixed with sunscreen, it was exactly as it smelled. I personally favor lip balms that do not have any taste at all, or if they do have a scent that it be pleasant. I personally did not enjoy the taste of this lip balm.
So the next and most important test is how it moisturized my lips and how long it lasted. As far as moisturizing my lips it did a pretty good job. In my experience most commercial lip balms use lots of petroleum and other chemicals that will make your lips feel moisturized, but it is more of a mask or coating than actual moisture on your lips.
The next test is how long it stayed on my lips and whether or not my lips felt moisturized after I could not feel it on my lips anymore. Chap stick moisturizer SPF 15 stayed on my lips for roughly 30 to 45 minutes which is better than Blistex in my experience.
So did my lips feel moisturized after the Chap stick had worn off? If this product had moisturized my lips it was very minimal. I felt the need to reapply as soon as it wore off. My lips did feel good while this product was on them, but as soon as it wore off my lips felt like I needed another application.
While this is not the best lip balm I have tried it is certainly not the worst. I do not like the smell of it or the taste, but it does feel pretty good when it is on your lips. The caveat to that is that she will need to reapply every 40 minutes or so to keep that good feeling. One thing I do like about this product is that it offers SPF 15 which protects your lips from sun damage. Your lips will get a tan from the Sun but they will get burnt and they do get damage from the Sun. So any product that has SPF 15 or any Sun protection is better than none.
I still have not found any grocery brand men's skin care product or lip balm that stands up to any of the fine products that we sell, but I'm hoping one day that these large manufacturers will create higher quality products that are designed to benefit the customer instead of the bottom line.
