Hair Do-Not for Tia Mowry-Hardrict?

Please! It really trips me out when people want to be respected for their choices, but when it comes to the choices of others, there is a problem. I know that people have heard by now that Tia (Mowry) Hardrict cut her hair and is sporting a new chopped do. I love it. No question. Not because it looks like she did the 'Big Chop', a process that many prospective naturals go through when it comes to transitioning from the 'RR' (Relaxed Realm). I love it because she is doing her, and rocking it with style. On MediaTakeOut they made the comment about 'not 100 percent feeling' her look and waiting to 'see what it looks like when she's dressed up'. Not everyone is going to like what a person does. Of course, we know that. And we are entitled to our own opinions. We are aware of that also. What separates confident women from a lot of the sad, simpletons out here is that they could care less about what the others think. As long as they are happy... truly happy, then they are good. No, make that OUTSTANDING! There are too many girls and young women being pimped and brainwashed into thinking that they aren't beautiful unless they are chemically or surgically altering themselves or they have long flowing hair like Barbie. (Yes, it still goes back to Barbie). Another thing is, people can be so against change, even though it's the one thing that you can guarantee. For years you've had people believing the only way you can properly manage your curly, curvy, coily hair is by straightening it. It looks better, it feels better, blah, blah, blah. Then came the time where rocking your afro was a sign of power, or rebellion, depending on how you wanted to look at it. Of course, the media and its partners found a way to take the power away or a least hush it for a while. Now, it's baaaack! The power, the confidence, the strength of doing you, regardless of what is deemed 'acceptable'. Tia may not have looked deeply into cutting her hair and changing her style up a little, thinking it may spawn some controversy and side eyes. I'm sure that many of us don't. We want a change and we go for it. The sad part is that many would change their style back in order to appease the masses even if their initial change made them feel free, confident... happy. What I get from Tia is that she is strong, confident and fierce and her style reflects it. I also get that she could care less about disapproving looks and words due to Mama Bear's having to check some people about her baby bear. (That's another story.) The point I have is this, and I've mentioned it a number of times above. Do you. As long as you are healthy and happy, nothing and no one can stand in your way off success. It's about confidence ladies and I'll take a page from Mrs. Hardrict's book any day when it comes to that very thing that a lot of our sisters are lacking. So, you go Mama Bear and whether you know it or not, it's the little things that you do that inspire many. Embrace your beauty. Be Grateful 2 B Natural!
